In chemical reactions, the method of using a catalyst to lower the combustion temperature and accelerate the complete oxidation of toxic and harmful gases is called catalytic combustion.
Because the catalyst support is made of porous material, it has a large specific surface area and suitable pore size. When organic gases heated to 300-450℃ pass through the catalytic layer, oxygen and organic gases are adsorbed on the catalyst surface of the porous material, increasing the chance of contact and collision between oxygen and organic gases, improving activity, and causing the organic gases to react violently with oxygen to generate CO2 and H2O, while generating heat, thus turning the organic gases into harmless gases.
The catalytic combustion device mainly consists of a heat exchanger, combustion chamber, catalytic reactor, heat recovery system, and exhaust stack for purifying exhaust gas.
Its purification principle is: Before entering the combustion chamber, the unpurified gas is preheated by the heat exchanger and then sent to the combustion chamber. In the combustion chamber, the required reaction temperature is reached, and the oxidation reaction takes place in the catalytic reactor. After purification, the exhaust gas releases some heat through the heat exchanger and is then discharged into the atmosphere through the chimney.
